THE PROPERTIES OF TUNA

Tuna is one of the most widely consumed seafoods in the world and is classified as a blue fish. Its consumption provides various benefits thanks to its many properties, including the following:

  • It helps the cardiovascular system and protects the heart due to its high content of Omega 3 fatty acids. These fats reduce cholesterol and triglycerides.
  • It protects muscle mass as it contains the 10 amino acids the body needs for cell development and to strengthen the immune system. Approximately 100 grams of tuna can contain up to 23 grams of protein. It is one of the most recommended foods if you like to exercise.
  • It has benefits for the skin. Its consumption reduces the risk of skin cancer due to its vitamin D content.
  • Its satiating power makes it recommended for weight loss diets.
  • It helps improve mood by providing substances such as omega-3, selenium and vitamins B6 and B12.
  • Other minerals present in tuna are potassium, which helps lower blood pressure; magnesium, which helps the intestines function properly; and phosphorus, which is necessary for strengthening bones.

In the vast majority of restaurants in Mogán, you can enjoy dishes made with fresh tuna from the two fishermen’s associations in the municipality.
