SURFACE AND MIDDLE ZONE FISH

The so-called Canarian artisanal fleet is dedicated to catching around 100 species of fish. These species can be subdivided into different groups, depending on the sea level at which they live. Thus, we find the group known as pelagic fish, which are those that move in surface waters and midwater zones.

Among the pelagic species, tuna are particularly noteworthy, although there are also coastal pelagic fish, including fish of great commercial value such as mackerel, sardines and horse mackerel.
